President Roush Addresses Campus Lockdown
September 20, 2013 By John Roush
Dear Members of our Centre Community:
I write to bring closure to the emergency situation we encountered this morning (Friday, September 20, 2013) beginning at 10:15 a.m.
One, I want to thank each of you for responding in a most appropriate way to our “emergency lock down.” Our community response to this off-campus robbery, multiple homicide and resultant campus lock-down was timely and appropriate in all ways. We will be conducting an evaluation of our response in the next week or so – and, there are some improvements we will make – but all of you need to know that your response to this emergency was very good.
Two, if and when we learn more about this situation, which may not be for days, we will share it with our campus community.
Three, while we are thankful that all members of our campus community are safe, there are some members of the larger Danville community who have suffered real loss on this day. So, I would invite all of you to keep these families in your thoughts and prayers.
If you have questions, I invite you to call our Directors of Public Safety, Gary Bugg, 238-5535, or Kevin Milby, 238-5534.
