Jennifer Goetz joined the Centre College faculty in 2011 as assistant professor of psychology. Prior to joining the faculty, Dr. Goetz taught at Middlebury College.

Dr. Goetz’ teaching and research interests include emotion, altruism and cooperation, and cultural psychology. Her research has appeared in Psychological Bulletin, Psychological Science, and Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin. Dr. Goetz’s current research examines the influence of Chinese epistemologies on the experience of emotion and cultural and evolutionary influences on experience of compassion and empathy.

She earned a B.S. in information and decision systems from Carnegie Mellon University, and a Ph.D. in social and personality psychology from the University of California, Berkeley.
