Centre academics can best be described as challenging professors teaching bright, enthusiastic students in an exceptional setting. Ninety-seven percent of Centre professors have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree and the student/faculty ratio is 11 to 1. More than 80 percent of current students ranked in the top 25 percent of their high school classes.

Approximately 85 percent of Centre students complete one of the College's study abroad programs, and more than one-third of all Centre students collaborate with professors in advanced research.

Centre students routinely win prestigious national awards; recent Rhodes Scholars are Chase Palish ’09 and Michael Lanham ’99. In the last 10 years, Centre has had six Goldwater Scholars, a Udall Scholar, 11 Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholars, 28 Fulbright winners, and three National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellows.
